Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has cemented himself as one of the greatest fighters of all time in recent years.

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico has won world titles in four weight divisions, unifying in three of those. He captured the undisputed super middleweight championship back in 2021 when he defeated Caleb Plant, adding the IBF world title to his collection.

He held the undisputed titles until last summer, when he was stripped of his IBF crown after he opted to face Edgar Berlanga Jr instead of mandatory challenger William Scull. Canelo went on to defeat Berlanga in a comprehensive unanimous decision victory last September.

Canelo has won his last five bouts since suffering defeat at the hands of former WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. The Mexican icon has picked up victories against the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia.

Despite facing so many highly rated fighters during his tenure, and tasted defeat on just two occasions, the 34-year-old has spoken out and revealed there is one fight that has always appealed to him.

Speaking on The Ring Magazine Podcast, Canelo revealed his interest in a potential rematch with Bivol, who handed the Mexican his second career defeat in 2022.

“Yeah why not. I always have it in my mind. I hope he [Bivol] wins this [time against Beterbiev], maybe they have the three fights, it’s gonna be difficult the situation. We’ll see in the future.”

The Russian star is due to face Artur Beterbiev in their highly anticipated rematch on February 22, after falling short in the first fight last October which saw Beterbiev capture the undisputed light heavyweight championship.
