Canelo Alvarez has been offered a huge fight as he prepares to return for the first time since he lost all of his world title belts last September.
That fight was a defence of his undisputed super-middleweight status against Terence Crawford, who has since retired undefeated and was the first male boxer to capture the undisputed championship in three divisions.
Alvarez is now 35 years old and a veteran of 68 fights, with 63 of those being wins. He is set to return to the ring for his traditional September fight date against Christian Mbilli, but a potential future opponent has now revealed himself in Jake Paul.
Paul has leaked a phone call on X that he shared with the Mexican, and started with high praise for his achievements.
“I look up to you; you are an inspiration. Me and you have many similarities. One day, we make a good fight, until then, we can be friends.”
He then said he is willing to fight for the eye-watering sum of money Canelo demands.
“Canelo, I have the $200 million for you. Easy money, Jake Paul versus Canelo, let’s get it done. This is the biggest fight that can possibly be made in boxing.”
Speaking after the call, Paul confirmed Canelo was keen.
“Canelo said he is down on the phone, so we’re going to make it happen. I have the $200 million, and I think that’s going to be the next fight, so sign the contract, Canelo. Much respect to you, let’s make the biggest fight in boxing happen.”
Paul also recently admitted he may never fight again after having his jaw shattered by Anthony Joshua when he was knocked out in their fight last November, so whether or not he is serious about the Alvarez fight, only time will tell.
