Canelo Delivers Honest Verdict On Chris Eubank Jr’s Performance Against Conor Benn

Canelo Alvarez was an interested viewer when Chris Eubank Jr. took on Conor Benn on Saturday night.

After three years of back and forth, Eubank Jr and Benn finally met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, in an entertaining battle that had plenty of exciting moments throughout all 12 rounds.

After 36 minutes of non-stop action, it was Eubank Jr that claimed the victory over his rival, defeating Benn by unanimous decision, after all three judges scored the fight 116-112 in his favour.

This Saturday it is the turn of Canelo to be involved in the major fight of the week, as the WBC, WBA and WBO champion looks to once again become undisputed at 168lbs when he faces IBF title-holder William Scull in Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of that fight, Canelo has been speaking to the media, and he told Seconds Out exactly what he made to the fight between Eubank Jr and Benn.

“Very good show, very good performance from both fighters, I enjoyed the fight.”

Canelo had been linked to a fight against the winner out of Eubank Jr and Benn, and while the Mexican’s next two fights are currently set, he admits a clash against Eubank Jr could happen at some stage.

“I’m focused 100% on what I have in front right now for the future, but it’s always a possibility there. We’ll see in the future.”

Provided he defeats Scull on Saturday, Canelo will then turn his attention to a mega-fight with fellow pound-for-pound star and four-weight world champion Terence Crawford in September.
