Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez looks to have entered what could be the final chapter of his incredible boxing career.

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico remains one of the best fighters on the planet, dominating the super middleweight division ever since he captured the undisputed championship with a win over Caleb Plant in 2021.

He held all four of the titles up until last year, when he was stripped of his IBF crown after he opted to face Edgar Berlanga Jr instead of his mandatory challenger William Scull.

Canelo has also captured world titles at super-welterweight, middleweight and light-heavyweight, losing on just two occasions in 66 professional contests.

He is unbeaten in his last five outings, picking up victories against Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia to name a few.

Speaking on The Ring Magazine Podcast, the Mexican superstar gave an honest response to being asked if he is approaching the end of what’s been a memorable career.

“Yeah I’m getting closer [to the end] obviously, but I feel great, I feel better than ever, maybe 38 [years-old]. I think 38 [years-old] is the perfect time to start thinking.”

The 34-year-old is reportedly set to face fellow pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford later this year, after a fight between the pair was discussed earlier this month.

Canelo and ‘Bud’ are set to lock horns in September, with Las Vegas emerging as the chosen location for the intriguing mega-fight between two of boxing’s biggest stars.

Before that, the Mexican is expected to fight in May with new IBF Champion Scull a frontrunner for a chance to become two-time undisputed.
