Canelo Alvarez is just months away from his highly anticipated battle with Terence Crawford.

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico will face Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday September 13.

Canelo will make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight championship against the unbeaten American star, having achieved this feat at 168lbs for the second time in his career last month when he defeated William Scull.

Before it was confirmed that the Mexican star would do battle with ‘Bud’, there had been reports that the 34-year-old was in negotiations for a controversial match-up against Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

In an interview with Carl Froch, Canelo was asked if he has any interest in a potential showdown with ‘The Problem Child’ in the near future.

“Not right now, I talked about it but not right now.”

Paul’s transition into boxing has been met with mixed reviews, with the majority of the boxing community expressing their frustration towards the 28-year-old since his debut back in 2020.

His last outing came against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, outpointing the now retired 58-year-old via unanimous decision at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15.

Paul makes his long-awaited return to the ring against Mexico’s former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday June 28, as he bids to move a step closer to securing himself a dream world title shot.

Another option for ‘The Problem Child’ could be a shock catchweight bout against reigning WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, with a fight reportedly being targeted to take place before the end of the year.
