Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez has weighed in on the controversial contest between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Paul brought Tyson, 58, back to the sport for eight two-minute rounds in Texas. The 27-year-old former YouTuber cruised to a unanimous decision victory, proving most right when they had said that Tyson would have very little of his former fighting self left in the tank.

Paul has made no secret about now wanting to face Canelo, the four-weight world champion who has been the biggest star in the sport for some years now.

Speaking to FightHype, the Mexican superstar confirmed he tuned in and said he felt ‘sad’ watching.

“I feel sad about what I see from Mike Tyson. Because at his age and everything he can’t do that kind of stuff. But it’s business for them and it is fine.”

Asked if he considered revenge for the heavyweight icon, Canelo said yes – it was an ‘injustice.’

“I think about it when I see that fight, when I see that injustice, but we’ll see.”

The 34-year-old has been clear in the past that if he is to consider a sideshow bout like one against Paul it will have to be at the end of his career – though fans will hope, if it must happen, he won’t leave it as late on as Tyson did.

In the meantime, Canelo is expected to defend his unified super-middleweight titles in May of next year. He says he will begin planning in January and amongst the list of challengers could be Terence Crawford.
