Canelo Alvarez has shared his thoughts on the transformed physique of Terence Crawford as they gear up to do battle this weekend.
The pound-for-pound superstars are set to lock horns for the undisputed super-middleweight championship at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night.
Canelo has proved to be a dominant force at 168lbs since he made the move up from the middleweight division back in 2018, reigning as the undisputed champion on two separate occasions whilst racking up victories over the likes of Gennady Golovkin and Jermell Charlo.
‘Bud’ Crawford will be looking to become boxing’s first ever three weight undisputed champion when he faces the Mexican icon this weekend, having already achieved this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight respectively.
In an interview with Fight Hype, Canelo was asked to share his opinion on the new physique of ‘Bud’ as the unbeaten American prepares to make his first appearance in a brand new weight class having clearly put on a sizeable amount of muscle in camp for the bout, with fans calling it ‘crazy’ and ‘the best he’s ever looked’.
“Nothing, muscles for me doesn’t mean anything, I fought before with bigger guys and it means nothing, but you know when I saw that you realise he make a good training camp and that made me happy because it’s gonna be a good fight.”
Whilst Crawford appears to be in arguably the best shape of his career, there have been concerns raised about the 37-year-old from Omaha making such a significant jump up in weight to face Canelo, having spent almost the entire duration of his career campaigning at welterweight before he made a brief appearance at 154lbs last year when he defeated Israil Madrimov.
