Canelo Alvarez has predicted what he believes the outcome will be when Jake Paul locks horns with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Paul returns to the ring for the first time since he outpointed heavyweight icon Mike Tyson in November when he clashes with Chavez in a cruiserweight showdown at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday June 28.

Chavez, who has had a disappointing professional career since holding the WBC middleweight title back in 2011, will have his sights set on derailing Paul’s bid to become a world champion in the near future.

Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo, who actually shared the ring with Chavez back in 2017, has weighed in on the upcoming bout between his former rival and ‘The Problem Child’, who has actually welcomed a showdown with the Mexican superstar.

In an interview with Seconds Out, Canelo was asked if he believes his former opponent and countryman can prevail on June 28 and become just the second man to defeat Paul.

Yeah [Chavez can win]. I obviously support Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I hope he wins. [If] he prepares himself really good and takes it seriously he beats him.”

Chavez is unbeaten in his last two bouts after he suffered a shock loss to MMA legend Anderson Silva by split decision four years ago.

The 39-year-old has received criticism for the direction his career has gone in since he held the middleweight title almost fifteen years ago, but the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr has an opportunity to somewhat redeem himself when he clashes with Paul in a matter of weeks.
