Despite both men having lost their titles to Oleksandr Usyk, there is still plenty of clamour to see an all-British heavyweight match-up between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

There have been many times when the biggest fights in boxing have evaded the public, or at least taken too long to happen. The most famous example was the long-running will-they, won’t-they saga surrounding Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao who were seemingly on a collision course for the best part of a decade before finally facing each other back in 2015 when many believe the fight came several years past their prime and was not the spectacle it once would have been.

In the current landscape, there are plenty of mouthwatering fights fans would love to see including the likes of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis versus Shakur Stevenson and Terrence ‘Bud’ Crawford versus Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis or possibly Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

There is one that sticks out above all others for UK fans, however, and that is a heavyweight clash between Joshua and Fury.

Both men have been professionals for the best part of a decade together though have not yet crossed paths, despite also both being world champions for many of those years.

Right now neither man has a belt, but both have opportunities to become world titlists again before the end of the year – Joshua when he takes on Daniel Dubois for the IBF in September, and Fury when he rematches Usyk for the WBO, WBA and WBC belts having lost the first fight in May.

Speaking to DAZN Boxing,Canelo was asked to pick a winner between the two should they fight and he went with the fighter many believe would be the underdog.

“Joshua.”

Should both men come through their upcoming fights, the natural next step would be an epic undisputed contest between the two.
