Though Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez and Terence Crawford have shown mutual respect since their fight has been announced, tempers flared in Las Vegas at their second press conference.

Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) will defend his undisputed super middleweight championship on September 13 against Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), who is attempting to become a three-division undisputed champion by moving up two weight classes from his last outing.

Neither man is known for trash talk or mental warfare, and the promotion so far has therefore been extremely respectful to the point of friendly. That all changed when they came face-to-face at the Vegas presser helmed by Dana White.

As ‘Bud’ Crawford closed the distance across the stage, looking for Canelo to step back, the Mexican icon instead shoved him before security intervened.

Though nothing major, the exchange will travel far on social media and do well to hype the fight, that will take place at the Allegiant Stadium and be streamed live on Netflix.

Crawford has dismissed any concerns that the size and power of Alvarez will be too much to handle, reminding fans and analysts alike that he has proven doubters wrong throughout his career. Canelo is also keen to downplay the previous Gulf in weight class, hoping to be given good credit should he, as the bookmakers expect, pull off the win.
