Canelo Alvarez has sent a stern message to Jake Paul after a fight between the pair collapsed at the start of the year.

It was heavily speculated that the 34-year-old Mexican superstar was close to agreeing a fight with the YouTube star turned professional fighter, whose most recent victory came against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson.

Paul has made he feelings towards Canelo clear on a number of occasions in the past, calling the unified super middleweight champion out multiple times over the last couple of years, and it looked like ‘The Problem Child’ was about to have his wish granted.

However, at the very last minute, Canelo reportedly made a u-turn on going ahead with a fight against the 27-year-old, instead opting to sign a 4-fight contract with Riyadh Season. The first fight of this deal takes place against IBF super middleweight champion William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Canelo was tasked with summing up a number of current and ex-fighters in a few simple words, going on to say this about ‘The Problem Child’.

“Great businessman.”

After the collapse of his fight against Paul, it was revealed that Canelo will clash with fellow pound-for-pound great Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford later this year, so long as the 34-year-old can defeat IBF champion Scull in what is an opportunity to become a two-time undisputed super middleweight champion.

An official announcement for Paul’s next opponent is yet to be made, although the 27-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio has once again called out former opponent Tommy Fury for a rematch, offering the unbeaten Brit a figure of $3 million to face him for the second time.
