Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson is now only a matter of hours away.
The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion will return to professional boxing for the first time in nearly twenty years when he takes on the YouTuber in Texas.
Opinion is split on how the controversial fight will go, but Paul is already thinking about a potential next opponent. Speaking on the Timbo Sugar Show the 10 and 1 novice once again called out super-middleweight champion, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for a fight at cruiserweight.
“This moment will prove I’m the face of boxing, the largest attraction, and me vs. Canelo at 200 pounds for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight, arguably even bigger than me vs. Tyson, and it makes so much sense.
“Canelo is on his way out. He’s going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the [stuff] I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true and I’ll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing. We’ll fight to really see who is the face [of boxing] because after this event, I’m going to be claiming it.”
On the Tyson-Paul ‘show’, Canelo says he is not interested in watching it and says something ‘is wrong’ about the near 30 year age gap.
“Not [I’m not interested] at all. I think Netflix is good for boxing but I think with that fight, Netflix is doing something wrong there. I think it’s more a show than a fight.”
On the prospect of stepping in the ring with the 27-year-old, the Mexican pound-for-pound star took a jab at Paul’s boxing ability.
“My level is another level”
He advised the brash American to stick to fighting MMA stars.
“But I think he needs to enjoy what he’s doing and that’s it. He needs to calm down and stop calling out people on other levels. i think he needs to focus on what he’s doing, he’s doing good things.”
Paul vs Tyson takes place this Friday night and will be streamed live on Netflix.
