Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is almost 70-fights into an exceptional two decade professional career.
The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico has proved himself to be one of the best fighters on the planet over the last 10-years, where he has won world title across four weight classes as well as becoming the first undisputed super-middleweight champion of the ‘four belt era’.
The Mexican superstar has a number of impressive victories on his outstanding resume, defeating the likes of Gennadiy Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia to name a few.
He is just days away from facing IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh on May 3, with a mega-fight against Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford waiting for him should he be victorious against the unbeaten Cuban.
It’s been over 10-years since Canelo was beaten for the first time in his career by Floyd Mayweather Jr, but the 34-year-old remains set on avenging this defeat and facing the retired five weight world champion once again.
Canelo expressed his interest in a rematch with Mayweather in a feature with DAZN Boxing, although he believes a second showdown with the 48-year-old is unlikely to happen any time soon.
“Yes, of course [I would like to fight Mayweather again]. I would love the opportunity to get revenge. Obviously we know it’s not going to happen but yes, I would love to get rid of that little thorn.”
‘Money’ Mayweather has not fought as a professional since he stopped MMA star Conor McGregor in the tenth round of their crossover bout back in 2017. The 48-year-old from Michigan has had a handful of exhibition contests since then however, where he has clashed with WWE star Logan Paul and undefeated professional Tenshin Nasukawa amongst others.
