Carl Froch Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Daniel Dubois Would Now Beat Tyson Fury

Daniel Dubois is a man in form, and now Carl Froch has assessed how he might get on against former world champion Tyson Fury.

Dubois hasn’t fought since last September when he put on his best display inside the squared circle. That fight at Wembley Stadium saw him stop former two-time ruler Anthony Joshua inside five rounds, having put him down in the first. He walked away with the IBF belt he won after beating Filip Hrgovic, which came six months after his breakout stoppage win over Jarrell Miller.

In the meantime, Fury lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk in 2025 and has been retired since January, though there is still clamour for him to return to the ring for one huge showdown with British rival Joshua.

Dubois now has his hands full with a rematch with Usyk for undisputed honours in July. He lost the first fight between the two back in August 2023 when he was stopped in nine rounds despite having had Usyk on the canvas with what was ruled a low blow.

Speaking on Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ praised Dubois but still thinks ‘The Gypsy King’ would have ‘too much’ for ‘DDD’.

“Daniel Dubois is not a bad fight, but he’s young, hungry lion. I know he’s tied up now with the rematch with Usyk but the Dubois-Fury fight would be quite interesting, but I do think Fury would be too much for him, but you never know do you?”

Should Dubois beat Usyk, he could well be ordered to face IBF mandatory Derek Chisora, or WBO mandatory Joseph Parker, or the winner of the eliminator between well-ranked IBF contenders Frank Sanchez and Efe Ajagba.
