Carl Froch has named the unbeaten world champion that he believes would have beaten both Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn.
Eubank and Benn are two of the greatest British fighters of all time and produced one of the best rivalries that UK fight fans have witnessed.
Their first encounter, which took place in November of 1990, saw Eubank capture the WBO world middleweight title from the grasp of Benn as he stopped his rival in the ninth round of their bout at the NEC Arena in Birmingham.
They locked horns for the second time several years later in their highly anticipated rematch and after yet another competitive battle, the fight was declared a split decision draw as both men retained their world super-middleweight titles.
The grit and skill of both men make them prime for generational fantasy fight debates. In a super-middleweight edition of ‘Winner Stays On’, Carl Froch revealed that he believes reigning WBC light-heavyweight champion David Benavidez would have prevailed against both Eubank and Benn.
Although Froch initially gave plaudits to the punching power of the British boxing legends, he gave his backing to the 28-year-old from Phoenix in fantasy showdowns against both fighters.
Benavidez held the WBC super-middleweight title on two occasions between 2017 and 2020, before he made the jump up to 175lbs last year.
He defeated Oleksandr Gvozdyk in his debut at light-heavyweight to claim the WBC ‘interim’ strap, which he followed up with a victory over David Morrell in February.
After Dmitry Bivol vacated his WBC light-heavyweight title, ‘The Monster’ was elevated from interim champion in April and is expected to make the first defence of his crown later this year, perhaps against the UK’s Callum Smith.
