Carl Froch has spoken about what he thinks would happen were Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to come together in the boxing ring,
These two heavyweights are former world champions who held all the belts between them for several years. Despite being similar ages and British, Joshua and Fury have never come to blows in the squared circle.
Last time out, ‘AJ’ was stopped inside five rounds by then IBF ruler Daniel Dubois in September 2024, and Fury is retired following his back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024 that saw the Ukrainian become the first undisputed champion in more than 20 years. Many feel ‘The Gypsy King’ will return for the right offer, and that may be a Summer 2026 bout against Joshua.
Speaking to FightLens, ‘The Cobra’ responded to Joshua’s recent comments, saying he was looking forward to punching Fury’s head in.
“He wouldn’t be smashing his head in. And I don’t think Tyson Fury would come out of retirement to be honest. He might do, cause he said he’s gonna, and if there’s massive money at stake, which there probably will be…
“I can only see one winner in that fight, and that’s Tyson Fury. But Tyson’s been out now, he goes heavy in between fights, so if he puts on too much weight and he struggles to get it off and AJ’s been in the gym then who knows.”
Joshua is likely to make his ring return early next year against a mid-level opponent, according to Eddie Hearn, and while Fury has been seen back in the gym, there is no firm news on his return.
