Carl Froch Shares ‘Honest’ Reaction To Former Heavyweight Champion Announcing Return: “Why?”

As a former heavyweight champion prepares to make his return to the ring, British boxing legend Carl Froch believes he is making the wrong decision.

Despite suffering consecutive defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, former long-reigning WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has announced he is making a comeback to the sport in just a couple of months.

The 39-year-old from Tuscaloosa, Alabama has fallen short in four of his list five career outings, with his most recent ring appearance coming last June when he was brutally knocked out by ‘Big Bang’ Zhang in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Despite being urged by many of the sport’s most prominent figures to draw the curtain on his career, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ appears to have no interest in hanging up his gloves and has even pledged to become a world heavyweight champion once again.

Speaking to Casino Beats, four-time super middleweight champion Carl Froch didn’t hesitate to question Wilder’s decision to make his return to continue with his career, despite his most recent win coming against Robert Helenius in 2022.

“I don’t know what Deontay Wilder is doing to be honest. Ferocious puncher back in the day. He’s quite tall, spindly and skinny. He’s 15 stone. I stood next to him. He’s tall, but my big brother’s six feet tall. Why are you still fighting? It makes you question if he needs the money which is a shame because he’s been involved in some big fights.”

It was confirmed earlier this month that Wilder will face Tyrrell Herndon on Saturday June 27 at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas, as the 39-year-old makes one final push towards capturing the world heavyweight championship for the second time.
