Despite all he has achieved in the ring, Carl Froch thinks there is one heavyweight legend who would ‘bash’ Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk is, for many people, top of the current pound-for-pound list. The Ukrainian fighter remains unbeaten in all contests and has long since assured his place in the history books.
He is the only man in the modern era to have been an undisputed four-belt cruiserweight champion who has moved up to heavyweight and repeated that feat in the banner division.
It has not been easy, either, as the southpaw has had to fight Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice. He beat both men on the cards across all four fights and was never put down.
He has also beaten Daniel Dubois before now, and will fight the Brit again at Wembley Stadium in July looking to regain the IBF belt he had to vacate in order to honour his rematch with Fury.
Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, ‘The Cobra’ reckoned that if legendary former world champion George Foreman was fighting today he would have no issues dealing with the current crop of heavyweights.
“George Foreman, if he was around in the era of the heavyweights I’ve just mentioned there, you can forget all the other heavyweights, he’d have bashed them to bits, they wouldn’t have been able to live with him.”
The late great Foreman is best known for his upset loss to Muhammad Ali and being the oldest ever heavyweight world champion, aged 45.
