Carl Froch Names The Only Fighter He Would ‘100%’ Make Ring Return For

Carl Froch hasn’t fought since an epic one-punch knockout victory at Wembley Stadium back in 2014.

That fight settled the score with his British rival George Groves after a controversial stoppage finish in their first encounter in Manchester the previous year. It was one of the biggest nights of British boxing up to that point with 80,000 people in the crowd to see Froch retain his WBA and IBF world titles.

It was the end of a decorated career in which ‘The Cobra’ had also beaten the likes of Lucien Bute, Jean Pascal, Mikkel Kessler and Arthur Abraham with only one loss he never avenged to then pound-for-pound great Andre Ward in 2011.

So conclusive was that knockout of Groves and in front of such a large crowd that it was a perfect way for Froch to walk away from the sport.

However, speaking to Stephen Hendry’s Cue Tips channel, he admitted he would come back for a fight with Jake Paul.

“100% [I would fight Paul]. I wouldn’t come back and fight an active professional. I was nearly 37 when I retired and I retired for a reason.”

He then laid into Paul’s credentials and dismissed his 10 wins to date while also highlighting his one loss.

“He can’t fight. He gets in the ring and he throws punchers but he’s not a pro boxer. He lost to a guy called Tommy Fury who is Tyson Fury’s bother. No disrespect to Tommy but he’s a novice pro, he wouldn’t win a British title. Jake Paul lost to him and that tells you all you need to know. He’s got a big gob, he’s trying to fight Mike Tyson which is disrespectful, he’s a **** and I’ve told him as well.”

Paul of course steps into the ring with former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in November live on Netflix.
