Carl Froch has assessed Daniel Dubois’s chances in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

There is already history between these two heavyweight champions. In August 2023, they faced off when Usyk was a unified belt holder and Dubois was in his first world title fight. The Brit started well and landed a body shot that had Usyk down on the canvas, though the referee ruled it low and gave him all the time he needed to recover.

He did just that and turned things around then stopped Dubois in the 9th round. That left many questioning Dubois’s heart, but he has since beaten Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua to establish himself as a legitimate IBF world champion.

Speaking on his Froch on Fighting channel, ‘The Cobra’ gave his view on the rematch and made the argument that ‘DDD’ is a much improved fighter from the first fight.

“Dubois is a different animal. He’s a better fighter now. He’s had some great wins against Miller, Hrgovic, he absolutely splattered Anthony Joshua, he’s now full of confidence on the crest of a wave, and he’s a guy getting into the ring now really solidly believing in himself. He’s like a new fighter.”

However, he still sees only a win for the Ukrainian.

“I think it’s going to be a great fight, but I just can’t see anybody beating Usyk. Nothing against Daniel Dubois, he just got a tougher job to do.”

The fight take place on July 19 at Wembley Stadium and will be for undisputed honours, which is the first time that all four heavyweight belts have ever been on the line in one fight in the UK.
