Carl Froch Questions Former Heavyweight Champion’s Heart: “When It Gets Tough He Doesn’t Have It”

Carl Froch has once again been delivering some of his truth bombs when it comes to the resolve of a former heavyweight world champion.

Froch is known for his forthright views. As a former super middleweight world champion who held several different titles during his career, he has the right to talk about top-level fighters.

He also had a granite chin, never shied away from a fight and always gave 110% no matter the situation, though Froch thinks that is not the case when it comes to one current big name in the division.

Speaking on Clubhouse Boxing, Froch explained why he believes Daniel Dubois will always struggle at the top level.

“Daniel Dubois, when it comes on top, when it gets tough, I don’t think he’s got it, unfortunately. He’s a great fighter, as in he’s decent enough, good solid jab, good balance for a big lad, he can punch really hard, massive puncher, when the sh*t hits the fan, I don’t think he’s got it, I just don’t think he has, unfortunately.

“That’s not to say he can’t get there, because he’s young enough, but every time he gets asked a question I just think, why are you on your knees? You chose to go down when that shot hit you.”

Dubois held the IBF strap after beating Filip Hrgovic, having also stopped Jarrell Miller, and last September he knocked out Anthony Joshua, though he has also been twice beaten by Oleksandr Usyk and infamous was accused of taking a knee in his loss to Joe Joyce, albeit after sustaining serious damage to his eye socket.

He has been out since losing to Usyk in August but is set to return at some time in 2026, though not against Frank Sanchez as was first thought, as he withdrew from their proposed purse bid.
