Carl Froch has changed his stance when it comes to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson.
Paul and Tyson go head to head at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, battling it out over eight two-minute rounds in a contest streamed live on Netflix.
It’s a showdown that has split opinion within the sport, due to the massive age difference between the fighters and the fact that ‘Iron Mike’ hasn’t fought professionally since 2005.
Former unified super-middleweight world champion Froch didn’t hesitate when he was asked last year for his prediction for the bout, confidently siding with one man whilst talking to OLBG.
“Mike Tyson would knock him out really bad. Dangerous move for Jake Paul, he’s absolutely useless, didn’t know he was still fighting!”
With just days to go until the showdown, Froch has now made a U-turn though, revealing on his Froch On Fighting YouTube channel that he now believes that ‘The Problem Child’ will win.
“Mike Tyson shouldn’t be in there with a young man. If he gets knocked out and badly hurt, he’s getting knocked out by a geezer who used to be a TikTok dancer that can’t box. Does Mike Tyson really need to be jumping in there with Jake Paul? It’s a shame it’s come to this.
“It would be fantastic if Tyson goes in there and puts a whooping on him and lands a couple of shots, but the reality is I don’t think he’s going to be allowed to catch him.
“I think it’s going to be a one-sided whooping, and Jake Paul is going to beat him in four or five rounds, as Mike Tyson will get absolutely knackered and probably fall over.”
All will be revealed when the bout takes place on Friday, and boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has summed up Paul’s ability in just four words ahead of the fight.
