Carl Froch has spoken about Jospeh Parker’s chances in a fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
The former undisputed and current unified champion was hoping to go into a second undisputed fight with IBF ruler Daniel Dubois. However, Dubois is currently recovering from a virus he caught in the hours leading up to his defence against Parker back in February.
When that fight was canned, Parker took on late replacement opponent Martin Bakole and impressively stopped him inside two rounds.
That win comes on top of notable points victories over Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder in his last few fights and makes him one of the division’s most in-form fighters.
Speaking on his channel Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ expressed his happiness for Parker but admitted he has a tough night ahead of him.
“Parker deserves his shot. It was Dubois that pulled out of the Parker fight, and Parker had a good win over Bakole. I don’t give Parker much of a shot of beating Usyk. Look what Usyk’s done, he’s done Joshua twice and beat Fury twice so you can’t say Parker has a great deal of a chance. But you never know, if Usyk’s getting old and Parker is on a crest of a wave doing well it might make for an interesting fight. He deserves it.”
