Carl Froch’s Verdict On Wilder vs Chisora: “It Can Be Dangerous For Him”

Carl Froch has been discussing the upcoming fight between Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora.

This is an epic heavyweight clash, albeit between two fighters in the twilight of their careers. Both men have stepped into the ring 49 times before now, and both are now over 40 years of age.

Chisora has long said his 50th contest would be his last, but he has found form of late with a trio of points wins over Otto Wallin, Gerald Washington and Joe Joyce.

Wilder, meanwhile, has struggled much more ever since he was knocked out twice by Tyson Fury. His return saw him beaten on points by Joseph Parker and stopped inside five by Zhilei Zhang, though he did return to winning ways last June with a knockout of the overmatched Tyrell Herndon.

Speaking on his own Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ broke down how the fight might play out.

“Anything can happen. If Wilder turns up with any kind of spice or ambition, then it might be a tough night’s work for Chisora. If Wilder can tee off and get that punch going, if he finds some of his old power, it could be a dangerous night for Chisora.

“Chisora could march him down, back him up, keep the pressure on him and maybe get the stoppage. It’s quite an interesting fight and one I’m looking forward to.”

Whoever wins may be tempted to chase down unified champion Oleksandr Usyk for a world title fight, though the Ukrainian has previously said it is Wilder he wants.
