In the eyes of many, Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford are two of the greatest fighters on the planet.
Davis, who is best known as ‘Tank’, is 30 fights into an impressive career where he has already won world titles in three divisions.
The 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland currently holds the WBA lightweight title and is arguably the best fighter at 135lbs in the world. He is known for his thunderous punching power, stopping 28 of the fighters he has defeated inside the scheduled distance.
‘Bud’ Crawford is a pound-for-pound superstar who has captured world titles in four divisions, as well as achieving undisputed status at both super lightweight and welterweight.
His most recent triumph came last August when he dethroned WBA super-welterweight king Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska has reportedly agreed to a dream fight against Mexican icon Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, which is due to take place later this year.
One fighter who has experience in sharing the ring with both men during sparring sessions is unbeaten welterweight star Brian Norman Jr, who has emerged as a force at 147lbs in the last 12 months, having been elevated to WBO world welterweight champion last August after ‘Bud’ made the decision to move up to 154lbs.
Speaking to ShowBizz The Adult, Norman was asked to reveal who hits harder out of ‘Tank’ and Crawford, revealing Davis as the harder puncher out of the two.
“When I sparred Terence Crawford I was 20 years old at the time, so it was like he was trying to man me like ‘I’m gonna show you you a little boy’ type stuff.
But I’m mature for my age, so that’s why we evened out. Even when you see him fight for real, he don’t necessarily one-shot people, but what he do is he just beat you up and then he kill you. But as far as one shot, who got it? I gotta give it to Tank.”
Davis returns to the ring on March 1 to defend his WBA title against Lamont Roach at the Barclays Center in New York. He announced at the end of 2024 that he is planning on walking away from boxing by the end of this year, claiming he is ‘tired’ of the sport.
