A man who once beat the great George Foreman has come out to say he wants to step into the ring with Jake Paul.
Paul met Mike Tyson in November in a controversial bout shown live on Netflix. It was a fully sanctioned professional contest fought across eight two-minute rounds and Tyson looked every minute of his 58-year-old as he walked around the ring unable to throw any real shots.
Former YouTuber Paul moved around and peppered the once youngest-ever heavyweight champion of the world with shots of his own without ever going all out, sensing his opponent was vulnerable.
In a post on his own Instagram, former world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, who boasts a record of 60 wins from 68 fights with a staggering 53 coming by knockout, has claimed he has a score to settle with Paul in order to avenge the loss of his good friend Tyson.
“I feel responsible. I feel responsible, that’s why Mike was mad at me when we did the slap boxing thing cause he was like ‘yo, you trained Jake and Logan Paul.’ I didn’t understand, I didn’t get it at first. I feel responsible. I started it. Now I gotta end it. I gotta hurt one of them.”
Briggs beat the likes of Foreman in his heyday but hasn’t fought since 2016, despite the fact he famously chased a fight with Wladimir Klitschko using his catchphrase ‘let’s go champ’.
Nothing ever materialised and it is unlikely Paul will enter the ring with someone else as old as Briggs after the less than positive reception to his fight with Tyson, which he recently had to deny was scripted.
