Heavyweight Champion Who Beat George Foreman Says He Will KO Jake Paul If He Defeats Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul come together in the ring this weekend and already a former heavyweight champion is calling out Paul should he win.

There is a little over a day to go until this controversial fight plays out between Tyson, who was once the youngest ever man to become heavyweight world champion aged 20, and Paul, who has so far only had 11 fights.

The YouTuber has mainly beaten older pros and ex-MMA stars, with one loss on points coming against boxing novice Tommy Fury in 2023. Tyson, meanwhile, is now almost 60 and has not fought professionally since back-to-back losses in 2005.

The fight takes place over eight two-minute rounds live on Netflix and has very much split opinion down the middle.

One man waiting in the wings to potentially avenge his old friend Tyson if needed is Shannon Briggs. The pair grew up together in Brownsville in New York and Briggs is himself a former champion who famously beat George Foreman and faced the likes of Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, he revealed his plans despite not having fought since a win back in 2016 against Emilio Zarate.

“I’m not retired, it’s just that nobody wants to fight me. I’m not retired I’m just inactive cause they scared, know what I’m saying? They sacred of me champ, for real.

“I’m gonna fight in March, I’m gonna fight in March, yeah. If Jake beats Mike, I’m gonna avenge Mike and knock Jake out cold. If Mike loses, I gotta fight for the neighbourhood, you hear me.”

Although it seems unlikely at this point that Briggs will get a fight with Paul, stranger things have happened in boxing in recent years.
