A sparring partner of Jake Paul has shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash between ‘The Problem Child’ and Anthony Joshua.

Two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua will lock horns with Paul in an eight round heavyweight bout at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday night.

The 36-year-old from Watford is yet to compete since he suffered a shock defeat to former IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

Paul has been working hard behind the scenes for his showdown with ‘AJ’ and there were even claims that he had drafted in Dubois’ former trainer Don Charles to assist him with his pre-fight preparations.

”The Problem Child’ has also been working alongside and sparring with a number of world class fighters in the build-up, including WBC world lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Stevenson spoke very positively about his experience with spending time in Paul’s training camp.

“It’s crazy because I think Jake is better than people would even understand. A lot of people don’t think he’s as good because he started so late so it’s like you don’t know how good he really could be if he started earlier.

“You could tell he’s taken the craft serious. He’s locking in and doing training camps and got the right team around, got the coaches around so he’s better than what you would think.”

Despite this, the unbeaten American says he expects Joshua to get the win on the night.

“AJ is a boxer. There’s no way AJ should let Jake win that fight like I don’t see how he would let Jake win … I think AJ should get the win, I don’t know how it’s going to happen but I mean if you got all of that weight on you he should go out there and beat Jake.”

Should he come through his showdown with Paul unscathed, Joshua is expected to land a long-awaited domestic showdown with rival Tyson Fury, who looks set to come out of retirement to face his countryman in 2026.
