World Champion Offers Terence Crawford Title Shot After Declaring He Could Move To New Division

Terence Crawford could be tempted by a move to a brand new weight class after his historic victory over Canelo Alvarez.

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska dethroned the Mexican superstar of his undisputed super-middleweight championship at a sold out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas last weekend to extend his unbeaten record to 42-0.

Crawford was declared the winner via unanimous decision after putting on an impressive display in what was his first appearance at 168lbs, as the judges at ringside scored the bout 115-113, 116-112 and 115-113 all in favour of ‘Bud’.

Attention has now turned to what could be next for the American great, with the man himself suggesting that he could drop down to middleweight and push towards becoming a six-division world champion.

One potential opponent for ‘Bud’ should he decide to make the move to 160lbs is unified WBO and IBF world middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, who also remains unbeaten as a professional since making his debut just shy of a decade ago.

In a post made on social media, Alimkhanuly welcomed the prospect of Crawford making the move to middleweight in the near future, suggesting that he would be interested in a showdown with the pound-for-pound star.

Alimkhanuly made his most recent ring appearance back in April when he stopped Anauel Ngamissengue in the 5th round of their clash in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The 32-year-old has established himself as arguably the best active middleweight on the planet over the last 12 to 18 months, stopping 12 of the 17 opponents that he has defeated inside the scheduled distance.
