Terence Crawford is waiting patiently to announce his next move.
And the multi-weight world champion has every right to do so. He was undisputed at light-welterweight, then repeated that feat last summer in the welterweight division when he stopped his old rival Errol Spence Jr.
Since then he has been linked with several epic fights including with Mexican legend and current unified super-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the size difference between the two may prove a barrier to making the fight. It is one he is keen on, but recently admitted if it doesn’t happen he will move on.
‘Bud’ has also been called out by current IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, and now another world champion has been calling his name.
Teofimo Lopez is the current The Ring and WBO light welterweight champion and has lost just once to George Kambosos Jr.
Speaking to ESNEWS, he was asked if he could get the fight with Crawford.
“Yeah I think so, right now I’m dealing with some litigation, after that we’ll see.”
He was then asked how many rounds the fight would go.
“I’d say by 9. It’s my favourite number and a guy like him, you gotta break him down, you gotta break him down, you can’t just take him out.”
Confident as he is, Lopez hasn’t won by KO since stopping the unheralded Pedro Campa inside seven rounds back in 2022 in his first comeback fight after the Kambosos Jr loss.
