A Hall of Fame inductee has sent a stern warning to Gervonta Davis ahead of a potential clash with Manny Pacquiao.
There have been rumours circulating in recent weeks about a showdown between Davis and Pacquiao being on the horizon after the Filipino great made a sensational return to the ring this summer.
Pacquiao fought to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas on July 19, although many viewers believe the eight-division world champion had done enough to dethrone ‘El Azteca’ in what was his first ring appearance since June 2021.
As for ‘Tank’ Davis, the 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland currently reigns as the WBA world lightweight champion, with his most recent defence against Lamont Roach Jr ending in a controversial majority decision draw back in March.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, two-weight world champion and former rival of Pacquiao, Tim Bradley, made no mistake in backing the Filipino icon to defeat Davis should they go on to share the ring in the future.
“I know all y’all Tank fans are gonna come at me, ‘oh you don’t know’ – I’m telling you. And if he gets in that ring and he ain’t all the way focused, bro, he gonna get beat by Manny Pacquiao. If they’re gonna do it he’s gonna get beat by Manny Pacquiao if he ain’t all the way focused in the ring, seriously.”
Pacquiao has confirmed that he intends to continue with his boxing career after drawing with Barrios, although it remains to be seen whether a fight with ‘Tank’ will come to fruition next.
Davis had been scheduled to face Roach in a rematch next, but it appears that these plans have now been squandered after the 30-year-old was arrested once again last month.
