A former world champion who came within touching distance of beating Floyd Mayweather makes his return to the ring this month.

‘Money’ Mayweather is widely regarded as being one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves.

Throughout the course of his glittering professional career, which spanned across 21 years, he won world titles across five weight classes ranging from super-featherweight to super-welterweight.

Mayweather defeated a number of generational greats during his tenure, including the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.

Another highly rated fighter who Mayweather got the better of is Shane Mosley, defeating his countryman via unanimous decision when they locked horns at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas back in May of 2010.

Despite being on the wrong end of a comprehensive points decision, Mosley became the first fighter to appear to seriously hurt Mayweather after landing a number of heavy right hands which stunned his rival in the second round.

After being out of the ring for almost ten years, it has now been confirmed that Mosley will make a shock return to the sport this month. He was originally set to face actor David Kurzhal in an exhibition on Friday July 25 at the Indigo at the O2 Arena, however his opponent has now switched to internet personality come 17-fight boxer Matt Floyd.

The 53-year-old from California has not fought as a professional since he was beaten by former WBA ‘regular’ world welterweight champion David Avenesyan back in 2016, which marked the end of Mosley’s 23-year professional boxing career which saw him capture world titles in three weight classes.
