Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano follow up their historic 2022 clash this weekend with a rematch.

It was Ireland’s Taylor who came out on top via split decision in Madison Square Garden that night. The action swung back-and-forth over ten close rounds, including a statement fifth when Serrano had the undisputed champion hurt significantly.

‘KT’ rallied to keep a hold of her lightweight belts, but a rematch was warranted and inevitable. Two years later they do battle once more, this time for the undisputed super-lightweight championship.

In the time since the first contest, Taylor was defeated by Chantelle Cameron in her first attempt to win all the belts at 140. She reversed the result in a rematch.

Cameron – who has been vocal about wanting the trilogy bout – told IFL TV she believes that a 138 catchweight on the night will benefit Serrano, who is currently unified champion down at featherweight.

“The catchweight was a bit of a spanner in the works because now I’m like oh, wow, that was a good move. I thought the only thing that was going to be negative for Amanda was the weight, but I think them pulling the stops out and making it a catchweight is going to give her that little edge. It’s an MVP card as well so Katie’s not gonna get any favours. I’m gonna go for an Amanda win.”

The fight acts as chief-support to Mike Tyson’s return to the ring against Jake Paul, adding legitimacy to a main event that many feel disrespects the sport.
