Mexican fighting legend Julio Cesar Chavez has spoken about the upcoming fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois.
This heavyweight rematch takes place on July 19 at Wembley Stadium and is one of the biggest fights currently on the horizon.
It sees generational talent Usyk attempting to do something no man has ever done before: become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.
He first won all four major belts in the division when he beat Tyson Fury in May last year, then had to vacate the IBF in order to rematch Fury, which he did, and again won on points.
In the meantime, Dubois picked up that strap to become world champion for the first time when he was elevated to full champion after he defeated Filip Hrgovic via KO in June 2024.
Back in September last year, he defended the belt against former two-time ruler Anthony Joshua with a career-best showing and a fifth round knockout win.
He has previously fought Usyk in a controversial contest in August 2023, which saw him have the Ukrainian down, only for the referee to judge his body shot to be low and give Usyk all the time he needed to recover.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Chavez was asked to pick a winner in the rematch and didn’t hesitate to side with the former undisputed cruiserweight king.
“Usyk, Usyk.”
Whoever does prevail on the night will be faced with the prospect of having to defend against Joseph Parker, the WBO mandatory and former champion, who is in a good run of form of late following wins over Martin Bakole, Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder in the last 18 months.
