Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr has predicted an emphatic knockout victory for one man in the much anticipated showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Canelo and Crawford are just over one week away from doing battle for the undisputed super-middleweight championship at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Their long-awaited clash, which takes place on Saturday September 13, is widely considered to be one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport and has even been dubbed ‘The Fight of The Century’ by a number of fans and analysts.

Canelo began his second reign as undisputed champion at 168lbs earlier this year when he dethroned former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh, defeating the Cuban via unanimous decision.

One man that has shown an interest in the intriguing clash between Alvarez and ‘Bud’ is Mexican icon Chavez Sr, who became a world champion in three divisions throughout the course of his accomplished professional career.

Speaking to ESNEWS, Chavez made no mistake in backing his fellow countryman Canelo to stop Crawford during the middle rounds of their ‘dream-fight’, as he hints that the weight discrepancy will prove to be a deciding factor on fight night.

“Canelo will knock him out in six or seven rounds. Crawford is a good fighter but there’s weight classes [for a reason].”

‘Bud’ Crawford will make the move up to 168lbs for the very first time when he clashes with Canelo next week, having began his career at 135lbs before rising through the divisions, though he did jump up to 154lbs last year when he dethroned Israil Madrimov of his WBA super-welterweight title.
