Derek Chisora Asked If He Believes Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Happens

Derek Chisora has weighed in on the potential fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

This is a heavyweight showdown that has been on the cards and top of many fans’ wishlists for many years.

Both are British sports stars and both have spent years ruling as heavyweight champions, but as of yet they have never managed to come together in the squared circle.

In recent years, that’s been down to both men losing to Oleksandr Usyk, who has left them beltless. After that, Fury took a year out of the sport and is set to return next month against Arslanbek Makmuhdov, while Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident that saw him tragically lose two close members of his team, so he hasn’t fought since he beat Jake Paul late last year.

Speaking to iFL TV, ‘Del Boy’ explained that he still thinks this long-overdue fight will go ahead.

“People have to understand that fight doesn’t have to be signed for. If the two fighters want to fight each other, they’re going to fight each other. Anthony is getting himself back together, and when he is easy, they will fight.

“You don’t need Eddie Hearn to tell you. ‘AJ’ is his own boss. He respects Eddie and Matchroom but he will tell them I’m ready now, make it happen, and Eddie will make it happen. We are going to see that fight this year.”

If the two do face off, Fury will first need to come through his tough test next month as Joshua continues to work his way back in the gym.
