Derek Chisora has long been looking to secure his next opponent in the boxing ring, and Fabio Wardley‘s name has now been mentioned.

Chisora has been a great servant of boxing over the last 15-plus years. He is a huge character who has never shied away from tough nights and has always lived up to his ‘War’ mantra.

Although he has never won a world title, he has challenged for one several times and taken on generational greats like Viltai Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk and has fought Tyson Fury three times as well as having fought a pair of epic battles with Dillian Whyte, who many thought might be his next opponent, though negotiations fell through back in October.

Whoever he does fight next, it will be Chisora’s 50th outing in the ring, and he has said for a while now that it will be his last fight.

Speaking to First Round TV, ‘Del Boy’ was asked if Wardley could be that man.

“We don’t know, man, we’re just waiting for Queensberry to come with a better offer right now. Cause right now, we’re just in talks.”

Wardley was elevated to full WBO champion in 2025 when Usyk decided not to defend his strap against him. The Ipswich man had a big year with two knockout victories, first over Justis Huni and then Joseph Parker.

Chisora would present a tough first defence, but a winnable one, before Wardley then looks to go on to fight even bigger names later in 2026.
