Veteran British heavyweight Derek Chisora could be set to face a former long-reigning heavyweight champion in his 50th professional fight.

The 41-year-old from Finchley has officially entered the final chapter of what has been a storied professional career which began back in February of 2007.

Whilst he has fallen short in both of his attempts at becoming a world heavyweight champion, ‘Del Boy’ has proved to be a durable opponent for a number of top fighters including Joseph Parker, Vitali Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk.

After confirming that he will be returning for his 50th professional bout next year, Chisora has faced-off with former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, sparking rumours that he could be on the verge of finalising a deal to clash with ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

Wilder is also set to fight for the 50th time as a professional next, although it has been suggested that the 40-year-old from Alabama could be in line to face two-time undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ made his long-awaited comeback on June 27 when he stopped countryman Tyrrell Herndon in the seventh round of their non-title bout in Kansas.

Chisora has walked away victorious in his last three outings, racking up wins over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin after he suffered the 13th loss of his career to Tyson Fury in December 2022.

He had been linked with a fight against former foe Dillian Whyte in December, but the bout fell through and could now pave the way for the clash between ‘Del Boy’ and Wilder.
