One of Derek Chisora‘s last remaining missions in boxing is to get to 50 career fights.
Chisora is one of the most popular heavyweights in the sport and is known for always being engaged in highly entertaining fights, with plenty of build-up that is often just as dramatic.
His ‘War’ mantra couldn’t be more apt at this stage of his career as he fights on the front foot and throws big punches from the first to the last bell, and in recent times did so in impressive fashion against Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk was only in his second fight at heavyweight and was pushed all the way by Chisora, who since then has twice lost to Joseph Parker, beaten Kubrat Pulev, lost for a third time to Tyson Fury, beaten American Gerald Washington and got a unanimous decision win against Joe Joyce back in July.
His current record stands at 48 fights, 35 wins and 13 losses and next up he is fighting in Manchester on February 8.
Otto Wallin is the man in the opposite corner and is well known to British fight fans for having pushed Fury hard and inflicted a bad cut ‘The Gypsy King’ before getting stopped by Anthony Joshua in December 2023.
Speaking to BoxNation, ‘Del Boy’ was asked if his 50th and final fight could be against old foe Dillian Whyte.
“I’d have to do a coin toss between Dillian Whyte and Jarrell Miller.”
American Miller was supposed to be his opponent in March but withdrew due to promotional issues while Whyte has already beaten Chisora in 2016 and 2018. After a long time out after a failed drug test – from which he was cleared of any wrongdoing – Whyte returns to the ring against Ebenezer Tetteh on December 15.
