Derek Chisora has spoken about Daniel Dubois’s chances against Oleksandr Usyk just days ahead of their rematch.
This time, all four major world heavyweight titles are on the line. Should Usyk win, he will be the first heavyweight to ever be a two-time undisputed ruler in the four belt era.
He will first have to come though a much improved and hugely confident ‘DDD’, who has beaten Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, all by knockout, in the last 18 months.
After falling ill ahead of his fight in February with Joseph Parker, Dubois had to pull out so he has not fought since September last year, which means ring rust could be a factor in this contest.
Usyk last fought in December when he beat Tyson Fury for a second time, having also beaten him back in May.
Speaking to IBA Boxing, Chisora was asked who he thinks will win at Wembley this weekend, and although he isn’t writing off Dubois he says the ‘safe money’ is still on Usyk to get his hand raised.
“Whatever happens, both fighters are going to be fit. Safe money’s on Oleksandr, but Daniel’s a young cat who actually destroyed everybody in the last two years, so I wouldn’t write off Daniel right now. We’ll see what happens.”
He was then asked whether or not he thought the body shot that had Usyk down in his first fight with Dubois in August 2023 was legal or not.
“That was a low blow. Everybody keeps arguing about it, but that was a low blow.”
Usyk rallied after recovering from that shot and stopped Dubois inside nine rounds. Whoever comes out on top this weekend will have a strong claim to being the best heavyweight of their generation.
