Derek Chisora finally looks to have found an opponent for his 50th professional fight.

Chisora has been biding his time for nearly a year in order to decide his next opponent, with his last bout coming in February 2025 when he defeated Otto Wallin by unanimous decision.

The Brit has been linked with a number of names in the months that followed, including the likes of Fabio Wardley, Dillian Whyte and Zhilei Zhang, but it seems he will instead take on a man who was once the most feared in the entire division.

According to journalist Dan Rafael, Chisora is on the brink of agreeing a deal to take on American knockout artist Deontay Wilder.

“Former WBC heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder and former title challenger Derek Chisora are finalizing a fight that will take place in April in London, a source with knowledge of the plans told Fight Freaks Unite on Tuesday night.

There had been recent conversation that Wilder would challenge lineal/unified champion Oleksandr Usyk next and the sides had been in contact but the fight has not been made and Wilder instead will fight Chisora.”

Wilder held the WBC heavyweight title for a number of years, claiming KO victories over fighters such as Luis Ortiz and Bermane Stiverne before losing his belt to Tyson Fury.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ has found things tough since then, with further defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, but despite those losses he had been linked to a clash against current unified heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.

Chisora now looks set to be the next man for Wilder though, with further details regarding the potential fight expected soon.
