Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte have been hugely entertaining heavyweights involved in plenty of top-level contests, but both men are nearing the end of their careers.
‘Del Boy’ has now had 49 contests and has long said he wants to bow out once he gets to 50. He has fought a who’s who over the last decade, including the likes of David Haye, Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury and twice with Whyte, while most recently he has found good form and beaten the likes of Otto Wallin, Gerald Washington and Joe Joyce.
Whyte has now fought 35 times and won 31 of them, 21 times by KO. Relative inactivity in the last few years will not have helped his cause and this past weekend he was stopped inside two minutes by 20-year-old rising star, Moses Ituama.
As such, many think he should now call time on his career, though speaking to Seconds Out, his old foe Chisora suggested what he thinks would be a good final fight for his fellow veteran.
“Listen, I want to see Dillian and Joe Joyce in a farewell goodbye fight at York Hall.”
Joyce is a former Olympic silver medalist who had a good start to his career with wins over Daniel Dubois, Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker before back-to-back losses to Zhilei Zhang.
After beating Kash Ali he has lost his last two outings since 2024 – once against Chisora and last time out against Fillip Hrgovic. At 39-years-old, and with Whyte now 37, this could indeed be a great final fight for both men.
