Derek Chisora Names The Heavyweight Who Has Hit Him Hardest In 49 Fights

Derek Chisora has had plenty of tough nights across his storied 49-fight career.

The popular London-based heavyweight lives by the mantra ‘War’ and that often plays out inside the squared circle, whoever he steps up against. He is known as a relentless puncher and pressure fighter who marauds forward without relent.

It is for that reason that many in boxing often say he gave Oleksandr Usyk his toughest night up at heavyweight when ‘Del Boy’ welcomed him to the division for just his second fight back in 2020, something the Ukrainian has said himself in the past too.

Chisora has never held a full world title but has lost to the likes of Tyson Fury, Vitali Klitschko, David Haye and Dillian Whyte twice, but more recently he has been on a good run that has seen him beat Otto Wallin, Gerald Washington and Joe Joyce.

He has long said he will bow out after 50 contests, but as of yet has not decided who will be his opponent for one final dance.

However, speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, he has admitted that one little known fighter is the one he reckons hit him the hardest of all.

“The Welsh Beef.”

That man is Darren Morgan, whom Chisora fought back in October 2007 in what was only his third professional contest at York Hall. The four-round ended with Chisora taking a points win, but he insists he was hit harder than ever before or since by the 6ft 1 heavyweight from Swansea.

Right now, Chisora could be ordered to fight in an IBF eliminator against Frank Sanchez as Efe Agagbe has pulled out.
