Derek Chisora has given one of his famously bold assessments of what might happen if Daniel Dubois were to take on Zhilei Zhang.

Dubois has not fought since last July when he was soundly beaten by Oleksandr Usyk and knocked out of the second time by the former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.

That brought to an end a superb run which saw Dubois stop the likes of Jarrell Miller, Fillip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua on his way to becoming the IBF ruler.

Ahead of that, a bout of illness saw his fight with Joseph Parker shelved, while there were rumours about bad preparation for the Usyk fight and then the 28-year-old decided to leave coach Don Charles and move to Tony Sims’s gym before then changing his mind, all of which has somewhat put the brakes on his career.

Speaking to Seconds Out, fellow heavyweight contender Chisora first commented on ‘DDD”s trainer situation after the Brit reverted to his first coach Charles.

“You know, it’s good for Daniel that he went back to Don.”

However, ‘Del Boy’ still didn’t see that as enough reason for him to take on the towering Chinese heavyweight.

“Nah he’s not fighting Zhilei Zhang, f**k that. Zhang will knock him out. I said to Frank, what are we trying to do here, get him killed? Give him another fight, build him up.”

Zhang is now 42-years-old and has stopped Deontay Wilder and been beaten by Parker in his career, so he is keen to secure the biggest fights he can before the end of his career, while Dubois will be hoping to get back to world title contention sooner rather than later.
