Derek Chisora was involved in two epic heavyweight battles with Dillian Whyte.
The pair were once bitter rivals who were involved in public brawls at press conferences, but it resulted in two classic heavyweight encounters, with Whyte coming out on top in both of them, the first on points and the second by knockout.
Fast-forward several years, and Whyte was unable to replicate those past performances as he was blasted out inside one round by rising star Moses Itauma in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
Having shared over 20 rounds with Whyte, Chisora knows him probably better than most other heavyweights, and he needed just one word when speaking to Boxing King Media to sum up his former rival’s performance against Itauma.
“Sad.”
Chisora also hit out at those responsible for making the fight.
“Whoever did that matchmaking should get arrested. You should go to jail for that. How are you going to put a veteran old school guy in with a f**king young guy. Someone should go to jail. I believe Dillian was not ready for this fight. He should have had another fight to warm up, to understand southpaws.”
It’s currently unknown what Whyte’s next step will be, with many onlookers urging him to retire after the latest defeat and the fourth of his career overall.
As for Itauma, the 20-year-old now has an unbeaten record of 13-0, with 11 of those wins coming by knockout, and he has responded to calls for him to jump straight into a fight with undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
