Derek Chisora has given his opinion on a possible unification fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Fabio Wardley.
Wardley is the new WBO world champion, having been promoted to full belt holder after Usyk vacated it rather than defending it against his mandatory.
Wardley will be frustrated not to have won the belt in the ring, especially as last time out he once again pulled out a late knockout to stop Joseph Parker after many thought he looked to be behind on the scorecards.
He did similarly in his previous fight against Justis Huni and has also beaten the likes of David Adeleye and Frazer Clarke with an impressive first-round KO.
For his part, Usyk, who is history’s first-ever two-time undisputed ruler, said he had no interest in a Wardley fight, which is why he gave up the belt, but that hasn’t stopped fellow heavyweight contender Chisora from weighing in with some thoughts.
Speaking to Seconds Out, ‘Del Boy’ was asked what would happen if the two were ever to share the ring and didn’t hesitate to give a straight answer.
“If Fabio fights Usyk, he gets beat.”
This fight seems unlikely to happen now. Instead, the Ukrainian has said he would prefer to go into what would be another huge fight, this time with American former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder, who ruled the division for several years with his notoriously dangerous right hand.
As for Chisora, he is set to return for his 50th fight at some stage in 2026, and has been linked to a fight with Wilder himself.
