Daniel Dubois closed the book on his rivalry with Fabio Wardley with an explosive stoppage victory on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old from London got the better of Wardley in their thrilling first bout at Co-Op Live in Manchester back in May, recovering from two early knockdowns to stop the Ipswich-native in the 11th round of their clash to capture the WBO world heavyweight title.

‘DDD’ didn’t give Wardley any breathing space as the bell rang for the opening round at The O2 Arena on Saturday night, knocking him down inside the opening 20 seconds of the bout with a crushing right hand.

Despite a brave effort from Wardley, the towel was thrown in just one round later with Dubois producing another impressive performance and proving his credentials as one of, if not the best active heavyweight on the planet.

Speaking to DAZN Boxing, Derek Chisora reacted to Dubois’ impressive victory as he claims Wardley was not ready for the rematch, despite backing the 31-year-old to get his revenge and reclaim his WBO title.

“Fabio was not ready, he was not ready. He called it too early, he was not ready and he fell short … I expected it but I thought he was gonna win it, but I knew Daniel was training from the moment he won that fight.”

Fans and analysts have now called for Wardley to take an extended break from the sport following two bruising encounters with Dubois, who will now be looking at securing himself another huge fight down the line.
