Derek Chisora is choosing his last ever boxing opponent with great care.

Chisora has been a fantastic servant of boxing over the last 15 plus years. He has had a total of 49 fights and is now 41-years-old with 36 wins and 23 KOs to his name. He has fought a real who’s who of the division in that time, including the likes of Tyson Fury three times, Kubrat Pulev, Oleksandr Usyk and David Price, while his last three have been wins over Otto Wallin, Joe Joyce and Gerald Washington.

Chisora also met Joseph Parker on two occasions in 2021, with the New Zealander coming out on top with points victories on both occasions.

Speaking to iFL TV, ‘Del Boy’ confronted Parker and suggested they could get it on one last time before he retires.

“All I’m saying is yeah, the fight should be happening. But Joe has to give me more; he has to sell it. Joe, if you want to dance, we can dance.”

He then recognised it might not be the most electrifying fight, especially as they have done it before and there would be no belts on the line.”

“But even the Saudis don’t want to promote it cause it’s dry, that’s why they haven’t paid him for the last year and a half.”

Parker last fought in February when he took on late stand in Martin Bakole and stopped him inside two rounds after his original opponent, Daniel Dubois, pulled out due to injury.

Before that he beat both Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder on points, so he is a man on form, and would present a tough final challenge for Chisora. He is first in line for Usyk, however may find himself elevated to WBO Champion should the Ukrainian vacate. Chisora may suddenly become more interested should that be the case.
