Chris Eubank Jr. has had to pay his fair share of fines in recent months.

He was first fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control in March after slapping rival Conor Benn with an egg at their launch press conference, a reference to the reasoning that was given for Benn’s failed drugs test that caused their planned October 2022 bout to be scrapped.

Eubank Jr then narrowly missed weight for the bout in April, resulting in a mammoth £375,000 fine that was written into the contract.

He went on to win the fight against Benn, claiming a unanimous decision victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he has now been hit by another fine, as reported by Sky Sports.

“Chris Eubank Jr has been fined £10,000 for misuse of social media by the British Boxing Board of Control.

“He appeared to have violated the board’s rules when he posted footage on social media that suggested he was using a sauna to make weight.

“He must pay the fine before the board will license him for his next fight, the rematch with Conor Benn announced for September 20.”

Some fans have reacted angrily to the announcement, with one labelling it as ‘bizarre’ and another insisting that Eubank should ‘refuse to pay it.’

The situation regarding Eubank Jr’s weight was a big talking point throughout the build-up to the fight, with his father Eubank Sr strongly opposing the weight restrictions that were put into the contract.

It could potentially put the Benn rematch scheduled for September in jeopardy should Eubank Jr decide not to pay the fine, but the likely scenario is that it will be paid and the two fighters will resume their rivalry later this year, with the same 160lb weight limit and 10lb rehydration clause set to be in place.
