Chris Eubank Jr. is edging towards the end of his career.
The Brit is now 35-years-old and has had 38 fights, winning 35 of them and 25 by way of KO, with one of the losses coming early in his career against Billy Joe Saunders, and another back in 2023 against Liam Smith, though he avenged that six months later.
He has only once challenged for a major world title but came up short against George Groves back in 2018. Despite that, he is one of the most popular fighters in Britain and always draws a huge crowd, not least back in April when he took on generational rival Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 12-round fight was an engaging battle with both men throwing huge amounts of venomous punches. It was Eubank, the naturally bigger man fighting at his more natural weight of 160lbs, who prevailed and got a majority points win on the cards.
Speaking to Diary of a CEO, Eubank was asked about his perfect three next fights, which could well be his last.
“I feel like the demand for this Conor Benn fight is at an all-time high right now, so I feel like that would be the fight to make next. Then you have Canelo. That is a fight I have wanted for years. I would love to share a ring with that man. And then we could throw Saunders in at the end of it, you know.”
Benn himself is just as keen for the rematch, and September has already been mooted as a potential date. If it doesn’t happen, he will likely move back down to 147 and pursue fights against the likes of Mario Barrios and Devin Haney.
Eubank would be required to move back up to 168 pounds for the Canelo fight, as well as the Saunders grudge rematch – perhaps even higher for that.
